NEXT LEVEL SORTING at STENA
The metal recycling expert Stena was able to specifically optimize the material feed in front of three XRF sorters by using the ActiveFEED. The aim was to solve the problems of the old material feed, make optimum use of the high-quality sensor technology and raise the sorting quality and throughput to the absolute optimum.

Despite modern sensor technology, the existing feed technology was slowing down the entire line. Material flow was anything but constant – with noticeable consequences for quality, effort and system availability. It turned out that the performance of the sensor sorting system was directly dependent on the material feed. Daily attempts were made to manually control the throughput and prevent Blockages, underfeeding and overfeeding.
The feeder thus became the limiting factor for the entire sorting line.
The sensor sorting system should be operated as it is designed – with a defined material quantity and even distribution.
The focus was on:a
The video shows how Stena came across the ActiveFEED through internet research. After a test in the SPALECK Test Center with Stena’s materials, it was clear: the ActiveFEED is the simple technical solution to achieve NEXT LEVEL SORTING.
The SPALECK ActiveFEED takes on the task of keeping the target throughput stable once it has been defined – even under changing material conditions. As a result, the sensor sorting system receives exactly the material flow for which it is designed.
Before the ActiveFEED was installed at Stena, SPALECK tested the solution in its own TestCenter – with original material from Halmstad. This allowed the performance and parameters to be precisely assessed in advance.

TRANSFERABILITY for your preparation
The project at Stena shows how important an optimal material feed is for sensor-based Sorting plants. This is precisely where the ActiveFEED comes in as a clock generator.
Uniform and defined feeding improves sorting quality, increases usable throughput and reduces manual intervention.
The solution is transferable to, among other things:

Yes, the 3D COMBI is a screening machine that is very good at Screening and Classifying moist and sticky material. With our ModularDESIGN+ concept, we offer you many customization options specifically for your recycling material.
And the best thing is: if the humidity level increases or decreases with the seasons, for example, you can easily adjust the 3D COMBI accordingly.
Here you will find a field report from one of Germany’s leading compost producers, who uses the 3D COMBI to produce the best premium quality all year round with great precision.
